Competition Format

Men’s Country Week is coordinated by the Country Cricket Board and brings together representative teams from regional cricket associations across Western Australia.

The carnival is played across six days, with five scheduled match days. Round-robin matches are played on Sunday, Monday and Wednesday, with Tuesday allocated as a rest day. Semi-finals are played on Thursday, followed by finals and placing matches on Friday.

Friday match formats may vary depending on each team’s final placing. Confirmed divisions, fixtures, venues and match formats will be published through PlayCricket.

Nominations and Selection

Players interested in representing the BDCA must submit the online nomination form by the advertised closing date. Nominations for the 2027 carnival are expected to close at the end of December 2026, with the confirmed date to be published shortly.

Players must be available for the relevant matches and team commitments and agree to comply with the carnival rules, codes of conduct and BDCA team expectations.

The number of teams and grades entered will depend on nominations received. BDCA aims to provide opportunities across A to F Grade and makes every reasonable effort to accommodate players who nominate.

Team selection will consider player performance, team balance, availability, commitment, conduct, leadership and opportunities to develop emerging representative players.

While submitting a nomination does not guarantee selection, historically players who have wanted to participate have been successfully placed in a team. Final teams will be confirmed after nominations close, and players will be notified directly.

Details about the team-announcement process, standby players and how to raise a selection question will be published once confirmed.

Team Leadership and Communication

Each BDCA team will be supported by appointed team officials, which may include a captain, vice-captain and team manager.

Appointments will consider leadership, communication, reliability, respect within the playing group, understanding of the Spirit of Cricket and alignment with BDCA values.

Official carnival updates will be provided through email and approved BDCA communication channels. Team messaging groups may also be established closer to the carnival to coordinate training, fixtures, travel and other team arrangements.

Players are responsible for keeping their contact details current and responding promptly when information or confirmation is requested.

Training and Team Preparation

Training sessions, practice matches and team meetings will be scheduled during January. Dates, venues and attendance information will be provided to nominated and selected players once arrangements are confirmed.

Players should make every effort to attend scheduled activities. These sessions provide an opportunity to meet teammates, prepare for the carnival and receive important team information.

A team briefing and uniform collection may also be held alongside a January training session or practice match.

Travel and Accommodation

Players are responsible for ensuring they can travel to matches, training sessions, team meetings and other carnival commitments throughout the Perth metropolitan area.

Where you stay during Country Week is your choice. BDCA expects to offer shared accommodation at Broadwater Resort Apartments in Como from Saturday 16 January, with check-out on Friday morning, 22 January 2027. This can be included as part of the Country Week player package, and many players choose this option.

Broadwater provides self-contained apartment accommodation. Staying together is a valued part of the Country Week experience, with many memorable moments shared around the pool and within the accommodation. Players using the BDCA accommodation may share with up to five other players.

Players may request a private room for an additional cost, subject to availability. Players are also welcome to arrange their own accommodation elsewhere or use the BDCA accommodation for only part of the week.

On-site parking at Broadwater is limited, with street parking available nearby when the resort parking area is full.

Players must advise BDCA of their accommodation requirements by the requested deadline so rooming arrangements can be finalised.

Fees and Payment

A $125 deposit is required when nominating for Men’s Country Week. The deposit must be paid through the BDCA website to complete your nomination and will form part of your total carnival payment.
Confirmed 2027 carnival fees and final payment deadlines will be provided once team numbers, accommodation and other arrangements have been finalised.
The following amounts are indicative and based on the 2026 carnival:

  • Full carnival package with shared accommodation: $660

  • Full carnival with a private bedroom: $1,000

  • Full week without BDCA accommodation: $225

  • Individual matches: $45 per match

  • Accommodation: $70 per night

Players attending only part of the carnival will be charged according to the number of matches played and accommodation nights required.

Eligible new representative players can purchase the New Player Kit for $75, which includes:

  • One playing shirt in the selected style and size

  • One pair of playing pants

  • One BDCA baggy blue cap

Returning players should check that their existing uniform remains suitable and complete. Replacement and additional uniform items may be purchased separately through the BDCA Shop.

Under-18 Players

Men’s Country Week requirements for players under 18 are awaiting committee confirmation.

Player Requirements and Safety

Players are expected to comply with the carnival’s playing conditions, BDCA team requirements and the Cricket Australia Code of Conduct.

Helmets are compulsory for all batters and for wicketkeepers standing up to the stumps. Umpires will enforce this requirement, so every player must bring the appropriate protective equipment.

Players must also complete required payments by the advised deadlines and promptly notify their captain or BDCA if their availability changes.

Fixtures, Results and Live Streaming

Fixtures, venues, results and ladders will be available through the Country Cricket Board competition on PlayCricket. Players should check the competition regularly, as match details may be updated.

FrogBox streaming is expected to be available for all BDCA matches. Links to available live streams and replays will be shared when the fixtures and streaming schedule are confirmed.

Rules and Downloads

Official rules, playing conditions and carnival information for Country Cricket Board-run representative carnivals are published on the Country Cricket Board website. Players, captains and team officials should review the current information relevant to their carnival before participating.

Everyone representing the BDCA must also comply with the BDCA Code of Conduct and uphold the standards expected of association representatives.
